Diagnosis: Ruptured Appendix

Emma's story, as told by her mother, Lisa:
Emma was having stomach pain. We thought it was a virus but it turns out her appendix had burst and she was rushed by ambulance from Sentara Virginia Beach to CHKD. She underwent emergency surgery and had to stay at CHKD for five days due to the risk of infection. She received the most fabulous care from everyone at CHKD. I also stayed with her in her room for the five days and CHKD does a wonderful job making the families comfortable. The puppy visit was a highlight for Emma during her stay.
