Francesca's story, as told by her mother, Kelly:

 

 

Francesca struggled with ear infections once she turned a year old. She ended up having ten infections from the age of 1 year to 2.5 years. Her pediatrician recommended that she should go see Dr. Darrow at CHKD ENT. He was kind, calm, and compassionate about taking care of her. He made her feel at ease immediately. Because of his demeanor, I felt comfortable having my 2-year-old go down for surgery. Francesca has not had a single ear issue since surgery. We are so grateful for the care of everyone at the CHKD ENT office and especially Dr. Darrow. 

 

After falling from a chair in the kitchen directly on her elbow, Francesca was in a lot of pain. We had taken her into urgent care and they had mistakenly assumed it was handmaid’s elbow. After unsuccessfully attempting to put it back into place, we left frustrated and upset. We contacted our CHKD pediatrician, who had us contact the Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine department at CHKD. We discussed with the receptionist what happened to our daughter, and she got us an appointment with Dr. Carl St. Remy the very next morning at 8 am. Dr. St. Remy was phenomenal!

 

Francesca, who understandably, was quite terrified of anyone touching her elbow at this point, warmed up to Dr. St. Remy’s calming and friendly demeanor. She allowed him to examine her and he could tell that she had fractured it. They wrapped her elbow in a cast and sent us on our way. When we were checking out, we stated how much we liked Dr. St. Remy and we requested that our follow-up appointment be made with him. She stated that we were fortunate to even have our appointment with him, and in fact, he came in just for her on his day off because he heard what had happened at the urgent care. This doctor and the practice are phenomenal and go far above and beyond what is required.
