Brenna's story, as told by her father, Jeff:

In December of 2015, Brenna was sick with what was thought to be a bad cold. After a couple weeks of worsening symptoms and back and forth doctor visits, it was discovered she was suffering from pneumonia. She was prescribed two antibiotics and given four days to show signs of recovery.

Unfortunately, her condition only worsened and on day three we were directed by her physician to take her to the CHKD emergency room. After initial evaluation they immediately ordered a chest x-ray. When the results came in we discovered that her pneumonia had become life threatening and according to the attending physician “we need to treat her now or she could die”.

She was admitted immediately. Over the next five days the doctors, nurses and staff were absolutely amazing. It took a couple days before she showed any signs of recovery but CHKD made every effort to make sure she was comfortable as they treated the worst case of pneumonia they had seen that year.

It was expected Brenna would be there for a couple weeks, however, the staff did their best and got her home for Christmas with a warning that should symptoms worsen we needed to bring her back immediately.

I’m happy to report that after two years she has made a full recovery with no lasting effects.
